Boundless

We have not done what we

wanted or planned or envisioned

but have remained sealed

in deep silent caverns by the sea,

growing ever less needful of eyes

and content with the narrow chinks

of light that wriggle through the cracks.

I rise from my desk, exit my room

and walk out onto a balcony,

a vast yellow desert without

discernible limits stretches below me.
